Description

This conference is designed for those who want to deepen their ability to engage stories of trauma with wisdom, skill, and compassion. Together we will learn how to read and understand trauma narratives, practice the core skills of entering into another's story, and attend to our own bodily responses as we listen. We will explore how to regulate the storyteller's affect when dysregulation arises, and how to discern the developmental wounds of family-of-origin dynamics—the "trauma before the trauma." Participants will gain tools to identify and respond to self-contempt, and learn how to invite survivors into the essential movements of grief and anger as they reckon with the harm they endured.
