This conference explores how to process difficult emotions like sadness, anger, and fear in a healthy and spiritual way. It discusses expressing emotions to God, identifying and articulating anger, and using prayer or journaling—especially through writing a personal Psalm of lament. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of lament in faith, engaging with God about past trauma, and navigating desires and disappointments with authenticity.
Learning Objectives
Participants will learn:
- How to process your so-called negative emotions such as sadness, anger, and fear
- What it looks like to pre-reflectively express your emotions to God
- How to identify anger and put words to your anger in prayer and/or through journaling
- How to write and pray your own Psalm of lament
- How to authentically engage with God about traumatic aspects of your past story
- The necessity of lament in the life of faith
- What to do with your desires and your disappointments
