The Christian Scriptures open with the account of creation, in which human beings are made in the image of God. This God is later revealed to be the perfect being of Love, existing as eternal relationship between the Father, Son, and Spirit. Humans, bearing the image of this God, are created for relationships, as well. In this session, Dr. Porter will tell the story of human connection through parallel accounts of both Scripture and nature. Drawing from the biblical account of creation, as well as research from attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology, he will weave together a narrative of how we are designed by and for relationships.

Learning Objectives

1. Be able to apply the theological concept of the imago Dei to their personal and professional work for the healing of attachment wounds,
2. Utilize the archetypes of the biblical creation account to teach and apply concepts from interpersonal neurobiology, and
3. Draw from research on God as an attachment figure for the process of building secure attachment capacities.

In order to receive continuing education credit, your attendance will be recorded and you will be required to complete an emailed evaluation of the seminar and presenter.

Participants who attend "Theology of Attachment" will receive 1.0 NBCC clock hours of continuing education.
